Bunions

Bunions are due primarily to genetic factors, but can become painful over time due to trauma, ill-fitting shoes and poor foot structure. The bone connected to the big toe starts to drift outward pushing the big toe sideways into the other toes which can also lead to painful hammer toes, corns & calluses.

Untreated bunions not only can become painful, but can become progressively worse. Wider shoes, padding & custom orthotics may slow down this progression, surgery is the only way to correct the bunion deformity.

Bunion Surgery

Conservative approaches are designed to limit the progression of the bunion and relieve pain. In more serious cases, bunion surgery may be recommended.

Bunion surgery is usually performed on an out-patient basis which means patients get to go home on the same day of the surgery. Many of our patients start walking on the operative foot within a few days and can return to work within a short period of time.

We Offer Minimal Incision Bunion Surgery

Bunion surgery for minor bunion deformities can be attempted utilizing a minimally invasive bunion approach.
